From now until October, La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll will carry out litter collection actions to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of keeping the mountain clean.

The six mountain resorts of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) are organizing several cleaning actions from now until October to collect waste and raise awareness about the importance of keeping mountain environments clean and healthy for everyone. FGC tourist facilities are gateways to natural parks and with this action they are reaffirming their commitment to the care and preservation of the natural environment.

The first day will take place this Monday, June 2, in Vall de Núria. In collaboration with the companies in the valley, the objective of this first edition is to clean the environment of the garbage accumulated by human activity. During the morning, the participants will be divided to clean up areas such as the Mulleres torrent, the Finestrelles torrent, the chairlift line, the forest of the archery circuit, the Font Negra torrent and the area under the dam. Once collected, the waste will be treated.

La Molina will host the 6th Clean Up Day on Friday, June 6, in collaboration with the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. The activity will involve around 50 students from the Middle School of the Bac de Cerdanya School (Alp), as well as members of the Tallers de Cerdanya Foundation and the ADIS Foundation, both dedicated to people with disabilities. La Molina staff will also participate to support the groups. The clean-up will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in different areas of the resort, including Alabau, Pista Llarga, Telecabina and Llac. The main objective is to raise awareness about waste, encourage the reduction of single-use consumption and contribute to the conservation of the natural environment.

Then it will be Vallter's turn, on Saturday, June 14, a day that is organized jointly with the MadTeam Hiking Club. This initiative, which is celebrating its first edition this year, aims to clean the slopes and the surrounding area of the resort, helping to recover the beauty and balance of its natural environment. The volunteer day will take place from 10 am to 3 pm and everyone is invited to actively participate. Participants will be organized into several groups to visit and clean key areas such as Pla de Morens i Xemeneia, Clot, Bac and Xalet. For all volunteers, Vallter will provide the necessary material for waste collection, including gloves and bags. Finally, there will be a free aperitif for all participants. Registration can be made here.

As for Espot Esquí and Port Ainé, both resorts continue for another year with the Mountain Calling days with the local organization Loser Surfers and the Alt Pirineu Natural Park during the month of September. This season, the cleaning will focus specifically on the area of the car parks and accesses to the resorts, which is where a greater accumulation of waste has been detected. This approach will allow for more efficient management of resources and a more direct impact on the visual and environmental improvement of the entry points to the resorts. This initiative reaches its fifth edition this year.

As for Boí Taüll, the Mountain Project will be organized during the month of October. This project, started in 2022, has as its main objective to raise awareness of the natural environment and promote environmental education, as well as respect and commitment to nature. It will include talks and workshops aimed at the youth of the region. The initiative has the collaboration of students from the INS Pont de Suert, the environmental cycle and the snow cycle, in addition to technical staff from the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, and staff from the Boí Taüll ski resort. The cleaning of areas such as the Manyanet Valley, the Erta Valley and the ski area will be carried out during the summer by resort staff, once there is no longer any snow in the area.

With these actions, the FGC TURISME mountain resorts want to actively contribute to the conservation of their environments and promote responsible practices among their visitors, reaffirming their commitment to sustainability throughout the year.
